Still damp condition stay on Barcelona, the opening session of Friday morning drivers’ mostly choosing intermediate compound. Top runner Jenson Button took quickest lap with medium-compound and set 1m25.936s.
Force India’s Adrian Sutil set second fastest lap-time ahead of Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg and Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg.
Nico Rosberg was initially set quickest lap-time with wet compound. Pastor Maldonado, Adrian Sutil and Fernando Alonso all took turns at the top of the initial before Button’s flying lap.
Romain Grosjean set fifth fastest before the launch break. Fernando Alonso managed sixth fastest ahead of Williams’ Pastor Maldonado and Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo.
Marussia’s Max Chilton set ninth fastest and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel set on the tenth fastest ahead of Caterham’s Giedo van der Garde.
